Occasional gum bleeding may not seem like a big deal but that doesnt mean it’s not a cause for concern. It could be a sign of the first stage of gum disease which in medical terms is known as gingivitis.
For those of you who are clueless about this disease don’t worry, I’m about to break it down for you in simple terms. With time there’s dental plaque that builds up on our teeth, worse if we don’t practice good oral hygiene. This plaque contains all the bad germs that attack the healthy tissue around our teeth resulting in gums becoming inflamed and irritated. This is why gums begin to bleed when we floss or brush our teeth. Most importantly this is where bad breath develops! So if you feel you fall in the criteria of those people who have been experiencing these problems, worry no more. I may have a little remedy to your issue, it goes by the name Corsodyl.
The Corsodyl mouthwash was first introduced to me by my orthodontist when I first got my braces as he claimed there might be a lot of bleeding while brushing (with my teeth shifting and all). Corsodyl contains an ingredient called
chlorhexedine which acts as a disinfectant and antiseptic. What this means is that it contains an antibacterial agent that helps prevent and treat all the early stages of gum disease, bleeding gums being one of them. Though it’s used as a short term solution along with your daily oral care routine like brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing. This is because if used regularly it can stain your teeth but it’s nothing daily brushing can’t fix.
Mimi cares! Let’s take care of ourselves by practising good oral hygiene. If you take care of your teeth, your teeth will take care of you!
